Why this matters on a jobsite
Drop the sample phone photo and expand all tags: capture time to the second, iPhone model, iOS version, latitude, longitude, altitude. Now drop the edited sample: the location is gone, the camera is gone, and Software reads Adobe Photoshop.
Two files that look the same tell two different stories. That is why EXIF on its own is easy to question, and why the app fingerprints the original, so a later change shows up when it's checked.
